LAURIE & JOHN YODER - FRACTAL ART

Fractal Art
Woodcraft & Electricity

Michigan Artisans Laurie and John Yoder love exploring unconventional methods to create art. Using a process called ‘Fractal Art’, the Yoders use electricity to burn beautiful, authentic, natural designs into wood. From key chains to mirrors, Laurie and John continue to create functional pieces for their unique designs.

The Fractal Process:

Fractal burning is done by painting a baking soda and water solution on raw wood. A transformer is then hooked to both ends of the wood. When the transformer is powered the electricity forms a path through the wood - burning different and unique designs.

“Fractal Art is like a snowflake – no two are ever alike”
