SWEETSTONE
“Sweetstone”
By L. Saile
The Sweetstone, found and named by artist Liz Saile, is a beautiful stone that in some ways resembles the coveted Leland Blue stone. Found in the state of Michigan, the Sweetstone is formed from sugarbeets. Sugarbeet slag was formed during the processing of pulp waste material through incineration in the early years of the 1900’s in the Saginaw area.
