My interest in fine woodworking began with furniture and cabinetry making using North American hardwoods such as oak, maple and cherry. I discovered a wide world of exotic woods and found I enjoyed the different colors and grain patterns of these woods. I began to make smaller projects, such as jewelry boxes, showcasing these different combinations of wood color and grain. A few years ago I attended a wood lathe demo and became hooked on segmented bowl turning. I am interested in learning more about various segmented designs and techniques. My wife is learning to use the her lathe, but her first passion is quilting. We work together creating woodworking designs, in bowls, boxes, and charcuterie boards inspired by quilt patterns. Besides quilting, she enjoys making other handcrafted tote bags for marketing or beach use.
